Easy anti-police state activism -- easy and important |

There were 2 back-to-back news stories on Channel 11 last night that outraged me. The first was about a high speed chase that ended in a crash and the immediate deaths of 2 of the 3 occupants, with the 3rd in critical condition. The crash happened after the State Patrol officer tapped the rear bumper with his own vehicle causing the speeding vehicle to go completely out of control.
The 2nd item was about a 19-year old who is paralyzed and suing the state because the crash that paralyzed him was caused in the very same way: law enforcement tapped the rear bumper sending the speeding car into an uncontrollable crash.
I do not want State Troopers or any other law ENFORCEMENT personnel making decisions about who lives or dies or gets paralyzed, IOW about what kind of punishment criminals or alleged criminals should get by causing uncontrollable and invariably deadly crashes.
Frankly I don't want high speed chases in the first place, but they for DAMN sure don't have the right to mete out "justice" in this matter. Nor is it 100% for innocent citizens who might be in the area, either, tho I'm sure the cops take precautions against harming innocents they're not exactly omniscient.
I've called my State Rep and Senator -- if you don't have your people's numbers handy, try the Secty of the Senate -- 404-656-5040 and the Clerk of the House -- 404-656-5015 to find out what their numbers are. You can probably look it up online somewhere, too.
And by all means call the Governor's office as well: 404-656-1776
When I called the Gov's office, she wanted to know what it was about and when I told her briefly, she said, "Yeah, we've gotten several calls on that today," so CALL!!!!!!
