1. That's just Georgia, honey |
|
It is always that way down in GA this time of year. I am from North Georgia and spring time always means explosive allergic reactions.
My family has an old remedy for these allergies - lots of bourbon. Of course....that is their solution to many of life's trevails.
Hope you feel better.

|
My face hurt so bad I wanted to take a box cutter to it and slice off my sinus from under my eyes.
I'm really serious here. I've never had it this bad in my life. My throat is on FIRE!!!

2. OTC allergy meds is all you need probably |
|
If it is allergies and not a sinus infection. I have always suffered from allergies and asthma. I have found that OTC remedies work very well and often avoid dr visits because of that.
Since it seems like a new thing you should probably keep with the DR plan but try some benadryl while you wait. It might help.

You got some nasty post-nasal drip I bet. I dunno. Maybe you just have a bad cold. Usually it doesn't affect my throat.
Eye drops for allergies help too just reduce the itching. Anything with anti-histamines.
Drink some hot tea. Suck on Halls with menthol. Pretty much clean out your local pharmacy and try and sleep. The benadryl helps with that too.
It truly does make me sad to hear of you suffering Xultar. Yours is a familiar good name here that I've recognized for years.

6. Thank you Marnieworld. I just wanted someone to talk to....I can't find my mother. |
|
she's out in the streets somewhere.
My Dr. gave me some samples of Allegra...it's kickin in. Now I know why it is prescription only...that pseudoephedrine hcu is some wicked stuff. Kicked right in and I'm no longer exhausted at least. So maybe I'll be able to get through my day.
Thanks for caring Marnieworld...that's why I love DU. I can always find a caring friend to make me feel better and to cheer me on.

7. Yep it's sure more than politics around here |
|
It's always a community and sometimes a family. Sleep well and hang in there! The good thing about Allergies vs. an infection- they can last only a day vs a week or so. Allegra is very effective but use it sporadically. I was once on it just for Allergy season but any time I got off of it I felt like i had a horrible chest cold. My lazy Dr at the time told me that maybe I just developed a new allergy but I knew that nothing in my life had changed. Then after I weaned myself off of it anyway I learned that colds can be a side effect and that I wasn't crazy.
Anyway,

9. you need to see a doc for a sinus infection |
|
Sounds like you get *backed up* and WHAMMO -- sinus infections.
But you also need to keep an eye on the pollen counts, and get on something to counteract the allergies. And plan on staying on them till the frost.
My eyes were burning that day too. We've gotten so we keep windows closed, and even put vent filters in ALL our wall vents, to try to keep out the pollen.

8. My allery dr. says that if you have problems in the |
|
spring, they're most likely caused by allergy to tree pollen. If you have trouble in the fall, it's weeds/grasses. I'm on Zyrtec in the a.m. and Singulaire in the p.m., plus Advair for asthma. Everything seems a lot worse in the past couple years.
Good luck.
