MONROE — Former Monroe Utilities Network General Manager Bobby Morrow died following a car accident on Highway 11 Tuesday afternoon.

After Morrow's career ended with the city, he began to work with the ministry, heading up its maintenance department.

Morrow was terminated from his position with MUN after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence stemming from an accident during which he allegedly flipped a city vehicle on Snows Mill Road Oct. 4, 2005. The case has not been adjudicated.
Shortly after the accident, the city's Water, Light and Gas Commission was dissolved and the city's utilities were put in direct control of the Monroe City Council. An investigation into MUN by the city ensued, and a second investigation by an outside agency — possibly the FBI – is ongoing.
