I think we're going to have to reschedule our get together this Sunday |
|
CatWoman has pinkeye (ewwww... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2060238) What's an Atlanta DU meetup without CatWoman? Pretty lame, that's what... Early November ok for everyone?

Well, that can get better pretty quick. As a new Georgian, I'm eager to meet the infamous CatWoman. Let's see what she says about it.

2. That'll work for me! I hope CW gets better soon! I sure don't want pinkeye. |
|
Let's schedule for another Sunday at 2PM. That's a good time for those of us coming in from the hinterlands and gives us plenty of time to get home before it's too late.
:hi:
Get well Midori!

6. Ohhhh....you'll have to bring pics for us all (esp. CB) when we do get together |
|
And as I hadn't heard from ulysses, burythehatchet, MGKrebs and Casper and the other usual cast of characters, I thought it would be for the best to give everyone some more time.
And pinkeye is nasty and we certainly don't want any of CatWoman's funk :)

We were coming, but we have a two-year-old's birthday party on Saturday and Chris is a little under the weather right now. Early November sounds good, just let us know.
And yes, the last thing I need right now is pink eye. :scared:

Carter was up most of the night throwing up. Our first time hurling. Mommy was grossed out :)
I'm thinking the first or second Sunday in November. I'll get a poll going in the GA forum to see what is best for everyone.
Hope the little one is better soon!

(yet another ear infection...) If you've gotten this far without hurling, CD is doing pretty well. Chris soaked me this afternoon when the daycare gave him his antibiotic late on top of mandarin oranges. :eyes:

9. I am sure by then I'll be a dotting parent |
|
His registered name is Rockin J Snowman, I am still working on a barn name. He was originally named Rocky, but he is not a Rocky. Looking for a proper Native American name that is fitting.
Name suggestions are appreciated! :hi:

I know a pretty little paint filly named Walela which is Cherokee or Creek for hummingbird. :)
Try searching online for a Cherokee dictionary and find something that matches his personality!
My cousin has an Appy stud that she rescued. He's a sweetie! I used to ride a gray Appy mare named "The Debutante" and Deb was her barn name! I knew a 46 year old leopard spotted Appy gelding! He was still giving walk-trot lessons!
Cotton sends nickers and whinneys to Rocky! :hi:
edit: I think you meant to type "doting." ;)

17. Gave up on the Nez Perce name |
|
I decided he is Rowan. Rowan is Gaelic for "Little Red One." He answers to it and seems to be ok with it.
I'll post pics when he is in my barn. Luckily I think he is going to be an easy keeper. He prefers outside to in the barn, so he won't need a full time stall. I can't wait to start working on him. I bought a book of horse games, to see what he likes to do, and then we'll go from there.
46 years old? oh my, I'd have to put him in a will to leave to a relative! haha
Although my barn does have a 37 year old Welsh pony mare. She has almost no teeth, and we have to water down her bran mash. She is still the top mare, and pushes the others around.

16. Sorry about Catwoman... yeah, we can reschedule. |
|
We haven't been to a GA meetup yet so I didn't put 2+2 together when I saw that original post from Catwoman.
Anyways, I think Early November will be ok for us. Thanks for the info.

20. Thanks. I live 30 miles from Athens. Would you recommend |
|
some good places to go there? I drove around a little, and picked up a copy of Flagpole, but I would appreciate a native's perspective. If it is anything like Chapel Hill (as you said in another post)I am excited.

21. Tons of stuff to do and see! Get the Flagpole Guide to Athens |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-25-07 11:51 AM by CottonBear
and check out Flagpole on line.
Museums, music in clubs, all sorts of concerts at the UGA performing arts center and the Classic Center, UGA sporting events, some really good restaurants, The State Botanical Gardens and Art Museum (free!), shopping downtown, Cine (the new fine arts theater and bar downtown), historic tours, and Athens music history walking tour (visitors center) and lots more! Just don't drive over on a home football weekend. 92,000 people pack the stadium and you don't want to get stuck in the traffic. There is canoing and kayaking on the nearby (in Madison County) unspoiled Broad River. Athens and Watkinsville (Oconee County) are known for their artists, jewelers and potters. Check out the local galleries for some great stuff. :)
