Hi, Georgians. I think I'm moving to Savannah pretty soon. |
|
Any advice? All I need is a home and a job! :hide:
Seriously, what's the best side of town to live on in your opinion? I know the job market isn't great, but I've set my sights pretty low.
Any insight would be great, and a PM would work, too.
Thanks!

One thing I like about it there is there are are about two bars for every church. That's usually a pretty good sign in Georgia.
Good luck! Let us know, if you want to, when you are settled and maybe we can have a meetup there?

2. I'd try to get as close to the historic district as you can possibly afford |
|
The further out you get, the more it becomes just like every other urban sprawl nightmare.
You move here and we'll call a GA DUer conference in Savannah in your honor! :)

5. yes stay close the historic district. |
|
lame54 and I were married on Tybee Island and stayed in the historic district. It's beautiful and everything is within walking distance. We love Atlanta but wished our jobs had a location in Savannah. We are in the burbs here (Marietta) and miss living in a walking town (Dana Point, CA). Good luck in your hunt for a job and home.

7. And Atlanta is better? I like beaches, close by. I like small |
|
cities.
Seems sort of nice to me.

8. Don't be fooled. I'd rather be in Savannah. I'm in ATL myself. Ick. I'm sure there |
|
are nicer parts of the ATL, but where I live is Repub central and a monument to urban sprawl and mall-ification. Ugh. I miss Chapel Hill.

12. If you must move there |
|
get a place downtown. It is the only part of town that is accepting of outsiders.

9. Savannah is lovely and old. |
|
I wouldn't really want to live there, especially without either a home or a job.
Either way, I wish you well. We need more Georgia DUers.

10. Would you do us a favor |
|
If you happen to see Saxby Chambliss crossing the street, would you please run him down with your car? Max Cleland and I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance, and enjoy your move.

15. Getting a reasonably priced apt for a year is a good way to go. |
|
You'll figure it out within the year. I would imagine Garden City apt are little less expensive than Savannah apts.
Good luck. IM me if you need an info, but I know you already have a trusted friend in the area who can guide you.
