What are your predictions for your congressional district? |
|
I was just wondering if anybody had any insight on the races in their districts. I'm feeling a little pessimistic myself. What are people saying in your area?

1. I'll bite but for more then you asked |
|
I live in GA 04 and Hank Johnson will win easily. He won't get the 75% he got in 2006 but it doesn't matter.
State wide it's not pretty:
Deal will beat Barnes but there will be a runoff that Deal will win easily.
State wide the Republicans win every election.
Worse: Sanford Bishop wins tight but Jim Marshall goes down. No other seats change hands.
Worse still: With a Republican controlled Assembly and Governorship and redistricting will not be kind to us. Because of the census, we are expected to pick up another congressional district. that opens the gates for "creative" redistricting.
Like I said, It's not going to be pretty.

2. I was thinking the same thing. I'm guessing they'll either |
|
split a solid repub district in 2 or they'll split a dem district into pieces out of spite and to let repubs have a chance at winning.

In fact, your predictions were nearly dead-on accurate. Bishop just barely won, Marshall was defeated, and Republicans picked up every state-wide office. It appears, however, that there will not be a run-off for the Governor's office. Deal won it outright.
