Cindy Sheehan in Honolulu 4/22 ... |
|
Talk by Cindy Sheehan
Saturday, April 22, 7 pm First United Methodist Church
Your chance to see Cindy if you missed her the first time.
Cindy will be coming to Hawai`i directly from an Easter protest at Camp Casey (near Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas) where 14 were arrested this week. In recent days, Cindy has also been speaking out against the US's threats against Iran. To get some of this information, go to the After Downing Street website at Sheehan. There are lots of articles on what's happening at Camp Casey, and be sure to scroll down to Cindy's article protesting Bush's threats against Iran. Get the latest from Cindy herself when she speaks in Honolulu! The doors open at 6 pm; tables from community organizations will also be set up by 6 pm. Cindy's talk will be followed by a booksigning. There will be plenty of books to purchase; if you already have a personal copy you can bring it for her to sign.
Admission is free, but there will be a calabash for donations. Expenses for the tour are enormous, and we're hoping to do more than our share!
Cindy will speak on Maui on Sunday evening at the Castle Theatre at the Maui Cultural Arts Center. Cindy's speaking engagement at this venue has kicked up an enormous amount of controversy after a vocal minority spoke out against allowing her to speak at a facility funded with public money. Today a poll appeared in the Maui News asking whether she should be allowed to do so. Take a few minutes to vote: Maui News.
Cindy will speak at UH-Hilo, Campus Center Room 301 on Monday at noon before going on to Kona to speak at the Aloha Theatre at 6:30 pm. Let your contacts on the neighbor islands know about this chance to hear this courageous resister speak! (NION HI)
