The OPEC meetings this last week really fucked tens of thousands of oahu commuters with the worst traffic ever recorded on the island. The lost time is in the 100,000's of hours and no apologies have been made by the administration. They closed down H1 during multiple rush hours and brought the island to a stand-still. They would shut down the freeway so the emperor of china could go from the airport to waikiki. One person caused countless dollar losses to local residents, for what? No one, not even Obama deserves this level of treatment. What next? are we to get out of our cars and bow as these heads of state cruise down the streets?

that was APEC you're talking about -- the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation organization. While the extra security required by a meeting of so many heads of state temporarily inconvenienced some Oahu residents and businesses, it also brought millions of dollars of revenue into Hawaii at a time when such revenue is sorely needed.
The Asia-Pacific economy directly affects the Hawaii economy, and anything that improves the overall economy in our part of the world is also an improvement for those of us who live in Hawaii.
P.S. China hasn't had an "emperor" since the early 1900s.
