Just met Dennis Kucinich in Hawaii |
|
He spoke at our local Democratic rally on Maui - the crowd went wild during many parts of his speech ! :)

1. I hope Hawaii doesn't go red..... |
|
Hawaii is normally a blue state. Surely they won't go with Bush!

3. He really energized the crowd, didn't he... |
|
...I was personally disappointed with Sen. Akaka's speech, for a number of reasons, but Kucinich was electrifying. His talking points were clear and concise, and his enthusiasm was infectious.
I was especially impressed that he would work the crowd like he did, making sure that he met and shook almost every hand there... I got the impression that he really loves Maui and the people...
I got to thank him for his "A Prayer for America" which struck a chord for me in the darkness following the overthrow of 2000... Dennis Kucinich is a very special person.

4. I got there in the middle of his speech |
|
at around 12:15 PM.
What did Sen. Akaka say?
By the way, are you voting straight Democrat on the ballot? I am not - at least on the county level.
At the end of the event, I saw Brian Blundell - what the hell was he doing at the rally???

5. Someone spotted Mufi Hanneman attending the Cheney event. If true, |
|
he can kiss the mayor's race goodbye.

I don't live on O'ahu, but if I did, I would have a difficult time voting for either candidate.
The Leasehold Conversion law passed by the City Council is very important to me, especially since I graduated from Kamehameha Schools. Mufi does not support the law - Bainum does.
Yet could I trust Mufi? Hell No. I don't trust him on any other issue regarding the city.
And Bainum will win.

7. I agree with you regarding leasehold conversion... |
|
...IMO, I think L/C is in large part responsible for the housing shortage in the state... all the large landowners stopped building apartments and condos, developing commercial and high end residential for fee instead, and the hell with the politicians...
It's ironic watching the current crop of pols try to address the affordable housing situation - saying that they're going to "partner" with the state and developers for a solution... it's a total crock and people know it...
BTW... KSBE grad here too... many, many moons ago... :hi:
