Hawaii DUers: What Was The Reason For Our Slip?

In 2000, Al Gore trounced Bush in the islands. This year, we had to send Gore and Alexandra Kerry to assure us of receiving your 4 votes. The GOP made significant headway, and I am wondering why?

I want to know why this obvious slip occurred, and what can be done to prevent any more loss in the future. Hawaii is a very blue state, and I want to keep it that way.

3. But since even Hawaii Kai went for Kerry, and Ewa went for the idiot king,

I guess churches like Word Of Life have made a big difference for *.
Interesting that we spanked em in just about every local race, but they organized for * and man oh man, talk about hate.
They really spew the hate for Kerry. Why are these people so vicious?
Otherwise rational women told me they HATE Kerry, who had no strong political feelings one way or the other before they joined the church.
But since they have worked to become an organizing place they have really made a mess. I so dearly wish they really stood for what they say, Christianity. I guess they are more old testament kind of guys.

5. I Understand

Alabama is extremely fundy. I am a Christian myself, but I also have a head on my shoulders and an open mind to go on top of that. I by no means by into their hate of differing opinions and their love of war and death.

6. from an email i got... bigshot islander says cheney "cool and fun guy"

this person met w/ Snow and Cheney and wants them to work hard to keep the 'filipino and portuguese' votes in the GOP party. this person wants to deliver Hawaii to the GOP in coming elections. Hawaii Dems have to be on guard and work real hard to prevent this!
