April 15 (tax day) Downtown Post Office, 4-6 pm
Be as outrageous as you can! Be at the downtown post office from 4-6 pm to thank everyone who is dropping off their tax returns for supporting the the war! And have some fun doing it! Haliburton executives, outrageously rich heiresses, oil tycoons...get out your formal wear, your monacle and tuxedo, your champagne glasses...whatever billionaires have. Be there to greet businesspeople on their way home, or those dropping off their tax forms. Dress up or just wear whatever, and carry a sign reminding people that their taxes are being used to support an immoral and illegal war! Cheerleaders also welcome! For those of you not familiar with this form of satirical protest, Billionaires for Bush is really a national organization. There's no chapter in Hawai`i, but some of the NION organizers thought tax day would be a great time to pretend. For a little fun, check out the Billionaires for Bush website at billionaires. For some pics of them at the Republican National Convention see RNC.
So just show up at the post office from 4-6 on Friday, April 15. All forms of attire welcome (but no polo ponies please!).
And after cavorting at the post office, head down to the Tom Neilson concert at Church of the Crossroads. His raucous political satire will fit right in with your costume. Set aside this day for some fun -- with a sharp political edge.
