Question for Idaho DUers
If Larry Craig were to run for re-election is there any way a Dem would replace him?

Thanks

1. Not bloody likely.
But you never know. I always have hope.

2. Hard to tell, doubt it...
We had a few good years of Senator Frank Church and a few good years with Governor Andrus. Idaho has elected a Democrat now and then. The Repubs are well organized and I think they have a lot of Mormon money behind them. It seems to me they have ways of gaining political power through forming groups like 'Family Forum' that sound like a major movement. They turn out to be Dennis Mansfield, his cousins, and in-laws. They get themselves on TV to say they are representing Conservative values from throughout the state. It's usually some gay-hating cover to push agendas to deprive other humans beings of their civil rights.

3. I would like to think we have an excellent chance
Larry LaRocco (yeah, another Larry) is planning to run, and might actually come up with a win in the current environment.

Problem being, it's almost certain that Jim Risch will be given the republic nod if Craig doesn't run again, and he will be a tough campaigner.

4. Any speculation on who the other Dem contender could be?
I've seen some veiled references to another possible candidate but it's being kept under close wraps.

5. I haven't heard of another candidate for Craig's seat
Larry Grant (yes, all Idaho politicians are named 'Larry') has announced he will run again for the 1st Congressional seat, so not him.

6. Yes, there was a very good chance that Craig would have been defeated next year.
Because he has lost a lot of clout here in the state recently.

And this was before this week's news about him trolling for sex in airport restrooms.
