$7, 2 hours, Chicago protest. Priceless
I spent a little over $7 today ($5 for gas from the western suburbs and $2 for the meter), 2 hours total, and had a better time protesting in Chicago than any movie or sporting event I have attended. Bar none.

The crowd wasn't as large as I would have liked. But we were noisy and visible on the street across from the Hilton. I was standing next to a guy carrying a sign saying "Honk for impeachment" and we had a LOT of positive feedback right in front of us. A lot of CTA and cab drivers honked too.

Most of the business people walking out of the hotel had to pass right in front of us - especially those looking for taxis. Many people were hollering "Shame!" and "Bush is a war criminal!". One guy kept asking them how much they took in bribes today or how much they paid in bribes today. He was hilarious and made it hard to be serious and impassioned as we were all giggling around him.

See you all downtown on January 31st?

5. Tribune Plaza at 5 pm, for Bush's SOTU
There is another rally at the Tribune Plaza in coordination with a nationwide effort to "make noise" during his State of the Union. An attempt to "drown him out" according to the flyer I got.

4. I found a meter on Harrison
I drove down Michigan and spotted the protesters. Took the first left off Michigan to find a close in parking garage and a guy pulled away from a metered spot right in front of me! I could see my car from where I was standing it was so close.

The meters are a buck an hour.

Columbus was a no parking zone. Bush's helicopters landed in the park right there and nobody was allowed to park along Columbus.
