1. Sadly
I have never read Jack Mabley! I've read a lot of Studs Turkel but nothing of Jack MAbley in the Sun Times. How old was he?

2. 90
he was a advocate for the mentally ill and retarded. when the state closed the facility for the severely retarded he lobbied the state for the children to stay here in dixon because moving them would kill them. he won and we have a facility named after him. he wrote for the daily herald papers for many years after leaving the chicago news beat.

4. I turned him on to DU

I read him religiously in the Herald. He was one of the few questioning the cabal in the run up to the war and I corresponded with him lightly. I sent him a link to DU as a place to get information and he wrote back thanking me, saying it was a great site. I don't know if he ever posted or not but he was a cool dude.
