If you are over 65, you may be able to defer payment of your property taxes until you move out of your home. This is NOT the assessment freeze or the senior citizen exemption, but a program by which payment of taxes is deferred and you are charged a ridiculously low rate of interest.

Illinois seniors who are house rich and low income should check it out the link for program requirements and contact the property tax collector of their county for forms, BUT BE AWARE OF THE MARCH 1 DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION.
