Ugh! Nunda 7 just started using touch screen voting machines. |

So I just got in my chair and wheeled myself over to my polling place, less than a block away from my house, and I noticed that my podunk village has decided to use touch screen voting. On top of that they only have one machine for the whole village. My village stats can be found here. www.portbarrington.net.
Now to make matters worse, the machine wasn't on an even plane with my chair so I had to stand up, ignore the pain in my legs, and the fear of falling, and punch in the information. Now because its so cold outside the my dyskensia in my hands caused me to hit the wrong square several times. However I finally got the ballot corrected but the people in back of me where less than enthusiastic about my performance. God I really hate these machines they are not user friendly for disabled people.
Oh and to make matters slightly more difficult on the way home it started to snow very lightly and my republican neighbor, who was in back of me, didn't offer me a ride home. He has done that several times before but when I declared democrat for the ballot he over heard me gave me a dirty look. Okay I am being a little whiney here but I think I earned the right. :D Oh well am home now and the day is over . At least I went out and voted that was the important thing. Have a happy everyone and thanks for letting me vent.

I'm home for a "wee" break. I've been standing outside since 6:30 am handing out "palm cards" for John P. Sullivan. He's running for Congress in the 3rd CD. It's bloody freezing out there....
In my precinct #21 in Worth Township they only have 1 touch-screen machine and 8 booths for the optical scan ballots. When me and Mr. Wonderful voted this morning, the optical scanner was messed up. It wouldn't spit the ballots out after supposedly reading them. One of the judges took the lock of the machine and was pulling them out by hand...They were having problems with one touch-screen machine as well. None of them had a clue of how to operate it...
One other thing, can anyone explain to me why Illinois has their primary this early on... I'm still shivering..
Turnout is going to be very low especially downstate. Sounds like there's a full blown blizzard down there...

Topinka vs Blago. I have a really strong hunch that the neocons would sit out a Topinka election. I am also going to be telling the anti choice crowd that you cant vote for Topinka and be "prolife" Yep it should be a mighty interesting general election. Hopefully we could put aside Dem infighting and take on the repugs for a change once the general election gets underway. Okay I know that I am dreaming :)

I can't wait to see Judy with Blago's father-in-law. The esteemed Richard Mell, that'll be really interesting.
I'm going to bed, it been a really long day...

4. Never heard of Port Barrington. |
|
Is that over there by all of the other 'Barringtons'? Is it on a lake or something, hence the 'Port'?
