GOPer says Amputee Vet Dem would "cut & run" from Iraq |
|
Peter Roskam, the GOP candidate to succeed outgoing Rep. Henry Hyde, accused Dem opponent Tammy Duckworth of wanting to "cut and run" from Iraq during a debate a couple days ago. The use of this common pro-war talking-point in this case surprised some observers—not to mention Duckworth herself—because the veteran Duckworth lost both of her legs in Iraq. Duckworth's post-debate reply was rather straightforward: "I just could not believe he would say that to me." http://tpmcafe.com/blog/electioncentral/2006/sep/25/il_06_roskam_calls_amputee_veteran_duckworth_cut_and_runhttp://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=post&forum=364&topic_id=2218214&mesg_id=2218214

quit being such an ass. this is not a vendaetta on tammy. i hope she kicks his ass, and i hope she surprises me in washington. but jesus h. christ i, and many others here, are so sick and tired of dems not fighting back. i will check the st, but couldn't she, or someone, see that coming? why wasn't it someone's job to have the perfect zinger for that in her toolkit before she got on the stage? and if this wasn't all being sold as the "fighting dems" it wouldn't be half as galling. i know she has it in her to leave ros-scum bleeding and crying on the stage. why isn't she?

2. I just called Roskam's campaign office. |
|
Phone 630-221-0006.
First of all the ninny that answered the phone, just picked it up, didn't say hello or anything. I asked "Is this Peter Roskam's campaign office?" "Yes", she says. I said "Did Mr. Roskam ever serve in any branch of the US Armed Forces or the Illinois National Guard?"
Ninny replies "Ma,am I believe I talked to you yesterday.". I replied, "No you didn't. Did Mr. Roskam ever serve his country in any capacity." Ninny "No". Then I asked the ninny, "What gave Mr. Roskam the right to attack Tammy Duckworth over the weekend about "cutting and running" when Ms. Duckworth lost both of her legs in Iraq?"
Ninny hung up on me.
Sounds to me like Peter Roskam learned well from the current occupant of that particular Congressional seat, Henry " Mr.Youthful Indiscretion" Hyde.
Good Lord, I despise these people. :puke: :puke: :puke:

What a horrible thing to say about Tammy Duckworth. Jeez, there is no depth to which Roskam will not stoop. I am so happy to live in Danny Davis' district.
And I am taking next Monday off to go register. I could not do it previously because I had signed a petition on which I was required to sign from the address at which I was registered...and which was still the city address. And I had to wait to re-register because of when the petition was being delivered.
So I will go do the initial step to my civic duty on Monday (and then do some triplet 6th birthday shopping and other fun stuff).

13. Contact the local paper Journal in their speakout |
|
I just wrote this: "Tammy Duckworth cannot cut and run. She lost her legs serving her country in Iraq in 2004. Peter Roskam knows no shame. Maybe he should be serving in Iraq instead of insulting American military veterans." http://www.journal-topics.com/speakout.html

It appears that way based on his website.
Typical Republican hypocrisy.

15. Because Roskam supports staying in Iraq... |
|
Is he encouraging his children to enlist as soon as they're 18?
I certainly hope so because recruitment numbers are pretty low these days.
