When I got home last night after doing my election judge duty here in the "burbs" and I went to David Orr's website to check the unofficial election results, when I saw that "Dorothy the Hat" (as she is affectionaly known in my family) had lost her aldermanic election, the exact same thought ran through my mind.
Dorothy Tillman was/is a real Chicago politician. She'll go down in history with Paddy Bauler, the infamous Chicago alderman in the early 1900's, (I think?) who said "Chicago ain't ready for reform".
Don't ya just love politics in Chicago and Illinois!!! IMHO, we have nothing on Tammany Hall or the political machines in Boston, Philly, etc.
One thing you can always count on in Chicago and the 'burbs' politics is this: it's always good for a laugh.
One other thing though, aren't we lucky to have two of the best US Senators that have ever graced that lofty position: Dick Durbin and Barack Obama. Thank God that the great people of the State of Illinois had the good judgement and common sense to elect both of these wonderful men to serve our interests in Washington, DC.
'Honest Abe' might not be too proud of the heritage of Illinois politics since he left our state in 1860, but in the greater scheme of things, it all evens out at the end of the day.

3. I'd put my money on Blago. |
|
Daley's got more than enough people to take the fall for him.
Blago's an easy target, Daley not so much. Unless some dirt comes out of the Oly's bid.
Think about all that land south of McCormick Place where the Olympic Village is supposed to be built.
