Illinoisans, you got snubbed. Congressional offices in the state that helped catapult Barack Obama to the highest office in the nation won't receive any extra inauguration tickets.
According to Ken Edmonds, spokesperson for Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-2nd), the Joint Congressional Inaugural Events Committee will release 198 tickets to each congressional office in the country.
Edmonds had his fingers crossed the committee would give a nod to Illinois, Obama's home state, by way of extra tickets for its residents. Illinois' Obama connection is spurring interest, but most people are hooked on the historic nature of the inauguration.
"We received about 1,500 requests in 48 hours on our Web site, not including the thousands of calls since last week," Edmonds said. "We're disappointed that we'll have to disappoint some of our constituents."
