Can Blago stay on as governor now that he's been impeached? |
|
Would he have to resign to leave, or could the legislature vote to actually remove him from office?

1. After the trial, the Senate will vote to remove him from office |
|
and they may also vote to remove his right to run for any office in the state of Illinois.

2. Does it look to folks there like Blago might do some sort of court challenge to all this? |
|
What do folks in Illinois think is up with all of his press conferences and the tv appearances in New York and all that?
Is this just attention whoring on the way out or does Blago have some kind of strategy for all this?

3. i think the man is just flat out nuts. |
|
i don't think he is any more corrupt than a lot of politicians. certainly no more corrupt that george ryan, who was protected by the media from the consequences of the deaths of the willis children, and therefore re-elected. everybody in the legislature was hunky dory with him. i am just a little sick of only dems getting prosecuted. (and yes, ryan is in prison. but he was never charged with anything in connection to the willis children and god knows what other wreckage flowed from his sale of his office.)

4. BTW, was Blago ALWAYS like this? |
|
Most of us out-of-staters didn't know much about him until "Seatgate" broke. Is this an illustration of the tragic consequences of hair product abuse?

5. Yes, he was always like this. |

None of this behavior (or even any of his style or "strategy") is new; it's all classic, vintage Blago.
In the past, whenever he needed the legislature to pass anything, he would refuse to deign to speak to (gasp!) the legislators. Instead, he would parade around the state holding carefully orchestrated dog and pony show style press conferences trying to pump up public support.
He has never understood negotiation or compromise. It's always been all about him, and there is no chink in his armor. He is a perfect specimen of ...well ...whatever the hell he actually is.

(Of course, given that THAT's the name of your state capitol, we both know it's only a matter of time before Hair Boy turns up on "The Simpsons"...perhaps to seek the impeachment of Mayor Quimby.)how tight were Blago and Richie back in the day?
