From my understanding, the ISP will be sending out vans around road construction sites that will be taking photos of people speeding through work zones. The ticket will be mailed to you. I would imagine this will primarily be on interstates.
The first ticket will be $375.00. The second will be $1000.00 and 6 months suspended license. It is also my understanding that there will be zero tolerance.
That means that if you are going 46 in a 45, you will be getting a ticket in the mail.
Just a thought, but I find it funny that this is the same day that the state budget cuts go into effect. Go figure!!!
On edit: Heads up.

2. There's more than money at stake. |

A construction worker here was killed two summers ago, while working in a construction zone. Wherever drivers need to get to can't be more important than the workers getting home at the end of the day.

3. and people do get pissed off when they are slowed down. |
|
soon as they can go faster they do. workers do get killed and maimed all the time. let the tickets fly. they will for sure be out late at night on the 4th. so, have a designated driver, folks.

Will the photos take pictures of the front of back of the car? I drive in Illinois but my car is registered in a state that doesn't require front license plates . . .
I usually go below the posted speed limit if they're actually doing work, but there are a lot of "construction sites" around here where nothing is happening. Hope they don't target those just to make a few bucks.

5. pretty sure they just snap the back one. |
|
and i would hope they would be doing this at the sites where there is active work, since besides the revenue from the tickets there is the savings of keeping workers safe.

7. i saw these signs for photo ticketing in the burbs lately |
|
the construction speed limit was 20 mph in a 35 or 40 zone.
i drove through there--it was night. no crews. no one except another couple cars behind me.
i slowed down and probably pissed people off--
they should take those fucking signs down when they go home for the night if the road is clear or no real construction work is going on. i think they were marking lines on the road. that was the construction. and everyone had gone home for the day. except the sign.
