Everyone stock up on booze and soap yesterday?

Seriously, how do they justify drastically raising the sales tax on many items - admittedly mostly unessential, but not all - while we still have a flat tax? As a grad student, these regressive taxes are a real blow.

Vote them out in their next election. It's the only thing we really have to defend ourselves.

The money has to come from somewhere. Booze and shampoo are cheap.
