2. Some Ogle County people may show up. |

Someone mentioned it to me.
I am on hiatus from local and state politics for awhile. I am still a precinct committeeman, but that is all. I will decide later what I want to do that might be effective. I will know when I see it.
Good luck with your coffee party!

Hi, there, Muriel. This is me and Mike Schlossmann's thing. We don't know, yet, where the Coffee Party wants to take us, but we both know where we want to take the Coffee Party... to the Tea Party protestors, themselves.
The scheduled event is going to be simple enough... we're going to introduce ourselves, and talk politics, over coffee.
The discussion will go wherever it takes us, and I am sure with recent events unfolding, it should be thoroughly entertaining.
I'm, personally, going to mention some upcoming Tea Party events, and see if anyone is interested in a peaceful counter-protest.
If you're interested, look up 'Coffee Party Chicago' on facebook's GROUP search option, where we have an ongoing discussion of the day's events, and politics in general. We're planning on getting a Rockford Facebook page up and running in the next few days. Ciao!

4. I'll follow what you do with interest. |

I have taken a beating over the last couple of years, and I am burned out. Democrats can be nasty shits, just like republicans. We have more than our share of that type in Ogle County. I actually have more political allies and friends in Winnebago County than in Ogle County. I just don't live up there!
I am serious when I say that I won't do anything unless I think it has a chance of being effective. If it will elect a liberal, change a law for the better, or bring attention to issues, I may become involved. I have given a lifetime of activism. I have begun to pick and choose only those actions that I feel strongly about. I am not signing any more meaningless Internet petitions.
I don't have to win every time. You know that doesn't happen. But I do have to do something that carries our fight forward so that we have a just society for every man, woman and child in the United States.

I felt the Rockford meeting went very well, but I'll let the other attendees speak for themselves.
Since we did not hold an event on the 13th of March, we had a lot of ground to cover in order to catch up to where the other Chicago CPM chapters are already at.
We certainly hit the ground running!... See More
We started right on time at noon, with 10 attendees, and closed everything down, right on time, at 2 pm.
The discussions revolved around the lack of civil discourse in today's politics, heavyhanded corporate influence in our government's affairs, and what we wanted to see the Coffee Party Movement accomplish.
We managed to get some of the staff working at the coffee house hosting our event involved in the discussions.
We all decided to show up again, at Katie's Cup, in just one week, to discuss the impending arrival of the Tea Party Express III into Rockford on the 6th of April, Sarah Palin's planned visit to the Rosemont, and to make arrangements for our ''Coffee with Congress'' event.
While I took a few pictures of the event, I had not thought of getting a group photo... (I was running on 24 hours without sleep, so PLEASE forgive me for that oversight!)
Working the midnight shift the night before left me ragged, and for that I have to apologize if I left anyone with the impression that I might have less energy than I normally might have, otherwise.
I want to personally thank everyone who attended, as well as Katie's Cup, located in beautiful downtown Rockford for hosting our get together - and hope to see everyone else at our next meeting!
