Everyone doing OK ( storms and tornadoes)? |
|
Between the heat and the serial tornadic weather, I have to admit Illinois probably hasn't been the ideal place to live this past week or ten days. Is everyone OK? No damage or injuries, I hope.

2. friday's storm left my art fair tent and work intact |
|
long ride home, tho. 1 hr w/no traffic, 2 hr w/traffic, 3 hr w/signals out, tree limbs in the road, plus traffic. fun times. at least the weekend was beautiful. i missed tonight's storm pretty much entirely.

3. the wednesday storm was INTENSE! |
|
we got it in two or three waves. hurricane force winds? give me a break! this is the midwest. when they announced we could get winds up to 90 mph i thought: oh shit! but i think the radio or tv news said they 85mph in some places. unreal.

4. There was damage around us, but okay here at my house. |
|
I beat one of the storms by seconds. I made it up the driveway, and brought all the groceries in the house in gale force winds. I went back outside to close the garage door. I got so wet that it was as though I had been standing in the shower wearing all my clothes. The hail started right after I made it inside. It was a relief to have missed being outdoors in the hail.

5. My building's lower level flooded.... |
|
I got home after the flooding started and so didn't put my car in the garage. We didn't have any hot water for two days and the elevator is still out. At least I live on the first floor, but we have senior citizens on the upper floors.
Waded through overflowing sewer water (yech) to get to the front door of the building. Two people who park outside have cars that won't start. I was stopped in front of the ramp down to the garage with my turn signal on, looked at all the water and my eyes must have goggled. Some man went and stood in front of the driveway and waved his arms as if to say "Don't go there." So I didn't.
Odd things was that was bad as the Wednesday storm was, we never lost power.
This week has been absolutely lovely in the Chicago area. Wish it would stay this way.
