How's the weather where you are? Bad Here. |
|
It is windy as hell and snowing like I've never seen. Seems the lake is fighting with this storm. Lake effect mixing with the storm. Crazy. I'm in Southern McHenry. Streets getting bad. No power outages. Schools canceled tomorrow D300. Please check in, my fellow Illinoisans.

1. Doing ok here. Came home from work early to beat the snow and find a |

decent place to park on the street. I plan on staying home tomorrow. I live about 3 miles from downtown Chicago in the Wicker Park area. Lots of wind. Snow doesn't seem too deep yet. I plan on staying home from work tomorrow unless the streets are clear. I'm a hospice nurse. I normally spend my days driving from house to house visiting patients. It looks like my patients are pretty stable right now they all have their meds and their back up oxygen tanks if the electricity goes out.

My wife is also a nurse. Stay home, just like her, and enjoy a day off. Stay safe and warm.
Peace, Max

10. Central Arizona is beautiful!!! |
|
I'll trade places with you, though. Miss my city. Hate Arizona. I want Portillo's, museums, culture, a real library, decent people and excitement. All we have here is great weather and loons. Armed loons.

It is bad. I can't really tell any more if the wind is coming from the east or the north. It is blowing so much that I can't tell how much it has snowed.
The visibility is almost zero. Fortunately, there is very little traffic. And I live on a main highway. It is good that people are staying home. Almost everything activity has canceled and every school has closed.

6. Over a foot of snow here |
|
but it's passed now and the sun is shining. I kept my power all night. Main roads clear. Side streets including my own not clear yet, but I expect it will be soon. Been keeping an eye on the weather on TV. No problems with it, the wind has kept the antenna clear of snow. It reminded me of the Blizzards of '07 and '99. I'll never forget either of those, and now I don't think I'll forget this one, either.

7. Shoveled a lot of snow today |
|
We received about 24 inches in the western suburbs of Chicago. I have some great neighbors. Ended up helping two of them when I was done. The drifts were an overwhelming site when I got up this morning. Plows haven't been down my street but some cars are venturing out. be careful with the falling temps tonight.

Sorry to hear about the heavy weather. My business has a lot of East Coast customers, and everybody's having trouble.

9. southern Illinois is getting back up to speed . . . |
|
The ice is melting pretty good but I understand we have more snow on the way. We lost power due to the ice storm for a couple of days but are luckier than many that are just now getting their power back on after it being off since Tuesday. Thank God for a fireplace and a gas stove!
