rahm emanual did something that ritchie daley never did- paid a visit to the 49th ward democrats. said a few words, answered some questions, and joked non-stop. i hear tell he is a miserable person, but i wouldn't have guessed it.

i think he has picked some good people, he sees our problems pretty clearly, and is aware of this moment when a lot can change.

eta that much to my surprise my almost always contrary neighbors were excited by his visit, and laughed like crazy. he definitely has political capital to burn.

i have often said that i understand how this city works, all i ask is that the new mayor shakes off the thieves from the last administration. sounds like he is working on it.
