April IN Duer Meetup was a resounding success last night except |
|
where the hell WAS everyone?
kliljedahl and I did conduct a business meeting and fined you all $25 for non-attendance and we held an election of officers on ES&S optical scan machines which Bush and Cheney won, surprisingly, after we took the smart card down to the Marion County Clerk's(R-SadlerUP) office for final tabulations.
 We are not sure how that happened.
But really, we did decide that the May picnic would be at Garfield Park and it could be any day in May except NOT May 21.
I attended the MoveOn, Indiana Peace & Justice March against the Nuclear Option of filibusters before at 5 pm. March went from Statehouse, to Lugars office on Market, Columbia Club on the Circle, past WIBC radio station (Ministry of Truth) too, on the Circle -- and back to the Statehouse steps. I think we had close to a 100 at one point. Several groups and sections converging together for the FUN that is was.

1. Excellent, I nominate Ouabache as new organizer ! |
|
 Take a bow !
My thought process in stepping down as Meetup organizer is thus:
* As noted, the Meetup group hasn't really grown - or shown any potential to grow since it's primarily limited to DU folks.
* There are several other 'free' groups in the area that we can mingle with - so why pay to have our little group when one of our 'originating goals' was to network and merge w/ other progressive groups here in Central IN ?
* Since we're all here on DU anyway, this seems to be a more effective communication/organizing channel that the Meetup site, which hasn't got but maybe a dozen hits per month.
* With the summer months coming, I don't see people being available every month for a meeting - every 3 months, maybe ?
Anyway, those are my thoughts, FWIW.
Thanks to everyone that WAS there last night.
Namaste ~

time constraints and all. Since that Meetup requires money now I say we just organize any future DU meetups through this forum? Maybe quarterly is better as far as everyones planning and schedules too-and since we are a small group.

2. I like the Garfield Park thing |
|
I wonder if it is too close to try to expand it into something like a Picnic For Progressives and invite all the groups in town. That would be sweet.
