The Laramie Project (play about the murder of Matthew Shepard) |
|
Spotlight Players announces its production of "The Laramie Project" by Moisés Kaufman and the Members of the Tectonic Theater Project, directed by Mac Bellner.
A docudrama about the 1998 beating and murder of a gay University of Wyoming freshman Matthew Shepard, it is a story of great sadness, great beauty, and, most importantly, of great revelation about our nation, about our ideas, and about ourselves.
This moving drama does much to put a human face on the victim, and on all those affected by his murder - including those who committed it. The characters are distillations of about 200 people whom the theater company interviewed over a one-year period in Laramie, Wyoming.
Spotlight Players Located at the First Christian Church 75 N. 10th Avenue Beech Grove, IN 46107
Performances: August 12-14, 19-21 Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10, Students/Seniors $8 Also, see our website at www.spotlight-players.org.

I have been wanting to take my 15 year old foster son who is gay to a production of The Laramie Project the next time it was being put on. Saw it at the Phoenix theater a few years back. Look forward to the production next weekend.
