http://www.wave3.com/Global/story.asp?S=3752207(ANDERSON, Ind.) -- A judge on Monday ordered a business owner to pay a fine of more than $100,000 for violating the state's no-call list.
Madison Superior Court Judge Dennis Carroll ordered Gabriel Gouvas of Anderson to pay the fine and issued a permanent injunction against him and his companies from calling people who have put their phone numbers on a list to block most telemarketing calls.
"Compliance with the law is our number one priority for people who have asked not to be bothered by unwanted sales calls," said state Attorney General Steve Carter, who brought the suit. "Rogue telemarketing is not acceptable."
It was the first time the state has sued to stop a company from violating the no-call law since it took effect in January 2002.
