1. wish I could be there,

and what an interesting place for him to speak. Last time I had business at Franklin College, I went for a late breakfast after the meeting - the diner we were referred to had lots of red white and blue bunting, and offered freedom fries and freedom toast.

2. Yep I know that diner.

When I moved here from the East Coast I noticed the whole area had an exorbitant amount of businesses with the word American in them, or had used a nationalistic symbol as their slogan or mascot. I'd bet that the French Connection has a hard time finding a spot in a Simon Mall.

The college though takes its "liberal arts" seriously it seems.

3. It was a great lecture. On the origins of the anti-slavery movement

The work of some lonely British aristocrats who began the movement from a collegiate latin essay contest and birthed it to full on public and parliamentary debate. He urged the students to become that lonely few to ignite the spark for the next big hisorical change towards the temporing of imperialism.

I hope they were listening.
