Julia Carson
Was looking through the Stat News propaganda and came across an article which said another Dem contender was running against Julia Carson. As I read down things became more clear. The 'other' candidate was a friend or working associate of Lee Hamilton. This makes sense now. They want Carson out of there to spread the GOP propaganda. Hamilton might be a Democrat, but in name only. When I went back to find the article it was gone. I think it appeared on Mon. or Tues. Anyone else see it?

1. I heard something on the radio but misunderstood...
I thought they said Lee Hamilton was challenging Julia Carson - that surprised me!
but I was wrong. I just found this:
"Kris Kiser is a candidate for Congress in the 7th District who will get some notice. Kiser is challenging incumbent Julia Carson in the Democratic primary and he is openly gay. Kiser is a lawyer and former aide to Congressman Lee Hamilton who gave up his job as a Washington lobbyist to move home and challenge Carson. He says he knows he has an uphill battle but intends to run a positive race. He is planning a formal campaign kickoff for next week."
from this blog from WISH TV:

It sounds like the Repugs may be mounting a challenge too:

I just moved from Julia's district but she always seemed to win easily.

2. I support Julia over a gay man that worked for the homophobic Hamilton
I am tired of all of these self-hating quasi-Republican gays that support outrages such as DOMA and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell"!

4. It's true
Unless someone drops out. This GOP guy Franklin will not get elected because of the gun deal. But this Kiser worries me. In fact, anyone associated with Hamilton worries me. Hamilton jumped right on the GOP Clinton impeachment bandwagon(he always sides with Repigs) until it was discovered he had an illegitimate child. Then he backed off fast hoping to hide his little indiscretion. I really think Julia can win this but it will be a fight all the way.

6. er... that wasn't Hamilton, that was Burton.
Hamilton was long gone from the House by the impeachment episode. Hamilton is/was a centrist - and on traditional new deal type issues to the left of centrists like Bayh. Where he jumped the shark, so to speak, was during the Iran Contra hearings where he was the Dem leader of the hearings. The story goes that he was part of the group that thought that the public couldn't handle the whole truth as to the malfeasance of the govt in the post watergate era and that the faith in govt would be shattered, so he worked to limit the scope of the hearings - "to protect us" - and what we got was a rehash of the old Iran Contra folks in this administration. He also served on the 911 panel (or was it the war intelligence panel?) and seemed to, once again, provide some cover for the admin by going along with the "keep a narrow scope" investigation line of the appointed GOP folks. However, in more recent months he was part of the spokespersons who has been critical that little has been done by the administration to improve national security (ala recommendations to prevent future attacks) - and has conceded that it *never occured to him before* the extent to which our foreign policies of the past have stoked sentiments that set in play the terrorism that we see today - and with that he tends to urge more caution and awareness for future actions rather than just play "dem hawk/neocon."

Burton, on the other hand, was involved in the ongoing hearings in perpetuity of the Clinton admin - and is best remembered on these boards for his wacko stunt where he shot up a watermelon in an effort to show how Vince Foster might have been murdered rather than committed suicide.

7. You're right
I had my names confused. That must have happened because Burton and Hamilton are both slimy pigs.
