Evansville Courier is already going after Ellsworth! |
|
There is a big story in Sunday's Courier & Press discussing how Ellsworth is one of the ten most endangered congressmen in '08. The whole piece in nothing but a long list of Repuke talking points against Ellsworth. They even put in a plug for a possible opponent, Robert Kreig: The Strip Club Warrior. So much for actually giving the Democratic Congress a chance. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2007/feb/04/ellsworth-already-on-endangered-list/

1. I think they are trying to repeat the big election coverage |
|
and readership they gained from the 'last close election' - so starting the speculation now. the article mostly focuses on the RNC's target list.
The old "bloody eighth" tag ought to be dropped - the seat was held for multiple terms by McClosky and then by Hostettler. The district that NOW ought to be called bloody is the ninth.
btw those comments were interesting - what is with the innuendo er Krieg and strippers?

It was a big deal a couple of years ago in Gibson County. There was this guy that owned a Bar-B-Que restaurant that was going out of business, so to try to recoup his losses he changed the business to a strip club. He quickly started making his money back but the puritans around here were apoplectic and demanded something be done. The problem was that the guy ran a clean business. He followed all the state laws, kept the minors out, kept the music down, and the dancers didn't get too close to the customers. The wasn't any real legal reason to shut the business down.
Robert Kreig (former Hostettler aide) was the newly elected prosecutor in Gibson county, and was looking to make a name for himself. He started having police sit in on the club non-stop to watch for anything they could use. What they eventually discovered was that the strippers were wearing thongs, and according to state law it is indecent exposure to show any part of your "buttocks" in public. Even though what comprises the "buttocks" is not clearly defined (literally, anyone from plumbers to girls with low rise jeans could be charges) charges were filed against the strippers, patrons, and owner. The charges against the patrons were dropped, and Kreig cut the strippers a sweet deal for testimony against the owner. As a result, the owner was convicted, lost his business, and went around $100,000 in debt. And, to my knowledge Kreig's stringent "buttocks" definition has never been used to prosecute anyone since.
