Property taxes in Marion County are expected to be met with such volatility |
|
that security is being sent to local accessor offices after the bills go out.
That reality disturbs me on so many levels.
It is going to be a long, hot, and very volatile summer.

1. It must be pretty bad for them asking for security now |
|
I am almost afraid to see by how much my taxes will go up.

2. I am not looking forward to it |
|
but I know that I can absorb it - I have great concerns for many of the families with which I work.

3. Look for even more foreclosures... |
|
Drive through any of the newer home additions here in Franklin Township. Lots of "notices" can be seen on vacant homes. One woman I talked to said that the foreclosure numbers in her neighborhood were running about 25%.
Are November taxes still going to be due in November? Too much for many homeowners to be able to pay.
I'm afraid that the "long, hot, and very volatile summer" will be lasting several years.

4. I agree that the reverberations from this - along with the economy |
|
which is stagnant, per incomes, for many - will last for quite some time.
By the November taxes - the tax hikes will have been translated into big rent increases - displacing both homeowners and renters.
