Update: Troops board buses; 'come home safe,' dad says

After nearly two hours of speeches, the ceremony at the RCA dome ended with the soldiers and the spectators joining in a shout of a term ingrained into Army life.

"Hooah!"

But there was little sweet about the parting. The soldiers and their families had already said their last goodbyes, and the troops headed straight for buses.

--- 3,400 soldiers of the Indiana National Guard's 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team are being deployed to Iraq. Reading this reminds me so much of the day I told my own soldier goodbye as he boarded a bus. I only wish he had been treated as well as these soldiers in their sendoff. I salute their commitment and bravery and hope they are returned safe and whole. The sooner we get out of this mess the better. --- WMU
