CIB is $40M in the hole ... want to raise food/lodging taxes? |
|
... why don't they just ask the overpaid millionaire athletes from the Pacers and the Dolts to each cough up $500k or $1M of their salaries ... that'll close the gap without kicking the taxpayers in the ass again ...
Just a thought.

1. Can't think of a better way to |

drive away future conventions and athletic events and even some current trade. Another one of those "tough" decisions by the CIB. How much more must the general public sacrifice in order for millionaires to play games?

2. Screw the CIB and the colts they road in on. |
|
1. CIB is a non-elected government entity with the power to levy and spend tax money. Taxation with out representation anyone?
2. We already pay NINE PERCENT on every restaurant tab in Marion County. Let me say that again, NINE PERCENT! Most of this tax is not paid by tourists, it's paid by the people who live here.
3. Look around at the number of restaurants that have closed in the last two years. Sure the economy sucks in general but this wave of restaurant closings predates the recent meltdown. I can name at least a dozen eateries that have bitten the dust since the stadium tax was increased.
I used to be about as ambivalent to professional sports as anyone you could find but as long as I'm forced to give my financial support, may favorite team will be anyone playing against the colts.
The near deification of a wing-nut, homophobic (former) coach also doesn't help my view of the organization.

3. Slightly different take.... |
|
I think the whole situation is a bit more complex than asking our professional teams to cough up hundreds of millions of dollars--though I think they should be part of the solution. This is bigger than a marion county issue, it's a state issue. 4. Proving once again that politicians are |
|
similar to cockroaches. It's now how much they steal and carry-off. Rather, it's what the fall into and mess up.
