Story in the Gazette the other day that two folks appear to be stepping forward to challenge Loebsack. Can't find the story online so no linky. Can't even remember their name. One is a doctor of opthamology who lives in Ottumwa and apparantly is employed at the UofI. Her big issue is that Medicare payments to doctors are not high enough. That would seem to be a question she should bring up to her own party. The other is a prison chaplain and former army officer. His issue is that Loebsack is not tough enough on terrorism. boogey boogey boogey. fear fear fear. The issue the RW is pushing hard is that Dave is taking PAC money when he said he was for campaign finance reform and BTW Jim Leach never took PAC money. Such BS. Leach could 'loan' his campaign a mil or two out of his pocket. Dave has to be near the poorest House member and probably couldn't loan himself cab fare.

1. The idea of "loaning" to a campaign is bullshit anyway. |
|
Mitt Romney, for instance, "loaned" over a million dollars to his campaign. In my mind, if you give money to the campaign, it should be DONATED, not "loaned". Basically, all this means is that if there's a million left in the campaign coffers at the end of it all, it's Mitt's. Now if, say, I were to give money to a campaign, fat chance they'd let it be a "loan". Nobody would give me back shit. And rightly so.
Luckily, Loebsack is probably pretty entrenched in that seat, considering the district. At least he'd better be. Dave's good people.

so he could stand up and say I don't take PAC money but I let them send out millions of dollars worth of printed materials for me. Nothing gets me more red arsed than Leach never took PAC money BS but a close second is the... "when Gore lost the election" He did not lose the election!

3. And let us never forget Jimmy's good friends Don and Dick |
|
Rumsfeld and Cheney that is. Oh and there were many more discrepencies between what Leach said and what he did, but the good old lap dog press made him a saint. Especially that damned Al Franken.
