1. The numbers are a HUGE part of the story |

and a part that the MSM seems determined to ignore. Our turnout was phenomenal, to say the least, and there is practically zero discussion of the implications of that for our party, our state and our country.
Obama had great organization here - the victory congratulations are well-deserved. But will these new, young voters stick around? Do they believe in the Democratic party as well as Senator Obama?
For those that stuck around at their caucus after candidate selection, who stuck around to hear the resolutions for the platform? In my precinct, the vast majority were Edwards people. The committee people - Edwards people.
I think my daughter was a little dismayed at how much a caucus is like herding cats, but she hears at home that it's hard work that brings long-term gains. How much will the unglamorous but necessary jobs appeal to the Obama and Clinton voters? I'm sorry, that comes off maybe snarky, and I'm not meaning it so much that way. I hope last night's turnout translates into people who are willing to work for the party as well as a candidate. The White House is important, but so much of what actually gets done is up to Congress and state legislatures.
