What's with all the cop impersonators here in Iowa?

A couple weeks ago we had a civilian sheriff's employee who figured that just because he was driving a cop car he was a cop and tried to pull over a real cop. Now we have this guy down in Iowa City who impersonated a cop and harassed a young woman.

we had part-time cops here years back. We had some problems with some knowing what their limits were.

The fights at IC High, the Hollywood/Broadway situation. Maybe with the kids gone, they can get something accomplished.

I'm not aware of the events that precipitated the fracas at City High. I'll tell you this, though. The Broadway area has been trouble for as long as I can remember. The IC police are down there, nightly. A good friend of mine is running for the Iowa City City Council, so I need to have a chat with him to get the details.

5. What's the deal with Los Cocos?

That bar is in the police reports several times a week. From what I understand, they have to quit serving drinks at 2 AM like everyone else, but are allowed to stay open until 4 AM as a dance club. So, the cops are dealing with fights in that neighborhood until four and five in the morning. WTF? Make them close the bar at 2:00 like all the other bars.

Keeping a dead end nightclub open all night in the worst part of town? It really pisses off the fuzz to respond to a real problem in Iowa City. Their forte is underage smoking and drinking stings. They excel at those. Oh well, THAT keeps us safe.

If I owned a business in that neighborhood I would be in front of the city council every week. There is no good reason for a bar known for fights that include gunfire, knives, chains etc., should be open until 4 AM.
