Heard it from a well placed friend. The employees will be on their own to find their own insurance. Good Luck! Should all these employees get a federal job, Mr. Grassley?
With a public option maybe these folks can get insurance from the gov't, hopefully soon. But how can the feds force employers to pony up for insurance when they can't afford it?

That's a fairly large company. No matter, let's hope that the insurance-less people can get some sort of Govt. run insurance and soon.

The Riches are about 25 years removed from this plant. They were bought by Oscar Meyer, which was bought by Kraft, which was bought by Phillip Morris, which divested it with Kraft, which decided to close our plant because of the proximity to OM in Davenport. So a local group of turkey growers and other investors bought the place. They have been doing well although it has not been shared by the employees much. They have opened a plant in Mount Pleasant and one in Utah(?) plus I believe they bought a turkey processor in Sedalia Mo. Mostly they do meat for Subway and WallyWorld now, so they are at the whims of those 2. At least that's what I have been told.
