Iowa City will be 21-ONLY starting June 1st.. |
|
http://www.press-citizen.com/article/20100324/NEWS01/3240322/1079 The next two sessions will be mere formalities. You don't have to be Cassandra to know what comes next. The students will petition to have it put on the ballot in November and overturn it.

1. Overturned in November |

Then the city council will find a way to reinstate it. I don't really know the right answer on this issue. I do know that the voters made a decision, and the city council is going against the will of the voters. That just seems wrong.

A couple things have changed. The UofI is fully on board for the 21 deal. And you've got a City Council ready to act. Living very close to campus like I do, I'm concerned that the the parties will spill out to the houses. Very possible. I'd like to ask the members of the Council one thing. When, exactly, did you forget what it was like to be eighteen?

3. Iowa City treats students like unwelcome pests. Has forever. |

Yet, I believe one could safely say no U of I, no Iowa City. While underage drinking is a problem, this kind of response to it serves no good.
