Since Dr. Laura is quitting... |
|
I am thinking it is time for an email campaign to maybe get Stephanie Miller on the stations that Dr. Laura will not be on. Such as WOC. And I think WMT and WHO as well. Maybe KXIC, although I may be mistaken on that since WMT is so close. I may be wrong about WHO and WMT as well, but I know Dr. Laura is on WOC. It's time to try and bring back at least one progressive voice on the air in Iowa. Besides Ed Fallon I mean.

I remember a few years ago, a friend and I were traveling to Green Bay on a Saturday and we listened to the Iowa game on WMT nearly all the way to Green Bay. Quite a powerful signal. Too bad they have such right wing crap on the air.

4. Well, we did that once. All are owned by Clear Channel |
|
It is a long story and if you would like to hear it PM me. Rhandi Rhodes and then Thom Hartmann was (one at a time) on KXIC from June to late October 2006. The programmer who made the change was fired. Advertisers revolted. Ratings went up.
Clear Channel is oddly, the largest carrier of liberal radio. But then, they own most the stations. Liberal radio only goes on their real dog stations and only when they have covered all other genre. So if they own 10 stations in an area, liberal radio might get on. You remember WKBF?
I am told over and over that this is the market forces at work.
