This is a
bit of good news;
DES MOINES -- Candidates for months have competed in 125 legislative races throughout Iowa, but the real battle for power at the Statehouse will likely boil down to about a dozen contests that both parties agree will settle the issue.
The winners of those contests should determine which parties control the Legislature, where Democrats hold a 56-44 seat majority in the House and 32-18 seat edge in the Senate.
Even during years where one party seemingly dominates, House Minority Leader Kraig Paulsen said narrowly won key races usually determine control of the chambers.
The article goes on to say the Republicans have little chance of winning control of the Senate, the Rs think they have a better chance with the House.
This is a good reason why it's important to get out the vote. Even if Braindead were to win the Governor's race, a Democratic legislature can keep him from doing too much damage.
