http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2010/08/25/king-challenger-gets-support-from-warren-buffett/Iowa 5th District Democratic Party congressional candidate Matt Campbell today is touting the receipt of the maximum individual contribution amount possible from one of America’s most famous billionaires. Omaha’s Warren Buffett, who seems to be the omnipresent focus of business reportage on what ails and could help the economy, has given $2,400 to Campbell’s campaign.
Buffett is among 40 U.S. billionaires, including “Star Wars” founder George Lucas, who earlier this year committed to giving half their fortunes away to good causes. Campbell obviously feels his congressional campaign is a good cause, but recognized in a press release that Buffett’s donation isn’t the same as an endorsement.
“I’m very appreciative to receive his financial support. I hope others that want a new direction in western Iowa and better job development will follow suit. We need to work smart to revitalize our rural communities and towns,” Campbell said.
