The University of Iowa and Public Relations 101. |

This incident of the 13 hospitalized Hawkeye football players should be a blueprint for how NOT to handle a crisis. I don't fault the workouts but it's probably just a little unusual:sarcasm: that 13 players had to be admitted for treatment. Not the point. To have a press conference without the head coach (in Ohio recruiting) or the AD(in Florida at a university related golf outing) is inexcusable. Though the U promotes the care and well being of its student athletes it hardly looked the case, yesterday. Now the media firestorm has only grown larger. And it's not the first time. The DJK fallout rumors were not handled until more than a week after his arrest. Who the hell is running the show here? As a season ticket holder for the last 13 years I am a beyond avid fan and I am extremely proud of the football programs accomlishments under Coach Ferentz. But the failings of responsibility this week are a huge black eye to the University.

1. There are whispers of supplements |

Just rumors mind you, but with everything that's gone down the last few years and 13 (at least) players getting sick all at once, there's surely something wrong. If true, a pot smoker sounds tame compared with that.

2. Well, Bluz. If there were supplements, they look to be legal. |

http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/feed/2011-01/hawkeyes-in-hospital/story/hawkeyes-players-test-negative-for-illegal-drugs-parents-confront-coach-kirk-fer I love the parents confronting Coach. One question. Who was the genius who decided to keep Coach on the road? Someone had to assure him that everything was under control. Sounds like the inner workings of the completely inept Fred Mims to me.
