Dean comes to Kansas and says it is a fight between good and evil. It makes national headlines.
Next day BTK (evil) is caught in Wichita. It makes national headlines.
Tuesday, the Phred Phelps petition (ant-gay) is voted down in Topeka. (Mucho thanks to DUer MuseRider for a lot of work.) It makes national headlines.
Now the Globalflyer lands in Salina. It makes national headlines.
And people wonder why I love living here. There's more here than meets the eye.

the baby stealing (literally from the body) which occurred this last winter. Stormont-Vail Hospital was splashed all over the National News.

There's so many "Christians" doing dumb things (Phred Phelps, Dennis "BTK" Rader (a Republican), Lisa "what baby" Montgomery and Reverend Tom "Murder Ordained" Bird) around here that I have trouble keeping them all straight.
We also had Timothy McVeigh staying at the Nichols' home in Marion, Kansas before becoming for famous for blowing up the Murrah Building in OKC. Richard "you'll never find the bodies" Grissom, We've got a UFO religious cult and about twenty years ago the Posse Comitatus was broadcasting its messages on the radio.
Every so often Kansas is featured because of Ft. Riley's "Big Red One" or because of our electorally challenged former Senator Bob Dole.
What I want right now is for Kansas to make national news as the home of the 2005 NCAA Men's Basketball Champions. Now that would be the kind of recognition I would love.

7. Not to belabor the point |
|
but Bob Dole will receive an award next Tuesday at the DDay Museum in New Orleans. And nothing would make me happier than if the Jayhawks won the basketball championship. Here in South Mississippi we have our Jayhawk flag proudly waving out front.

I have in laws who live in Topeka and north of there. We don't talk politics. They know better. I truly love them and we get along great as long as the conversation is about anything but politics.

11. I am tired of the nimrods who represent us |
|
In the Kansas Senate, we have good ole' Kay O'Connor who does not believe that the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution should have been passed (HUH?) and supports anti-choice and school vouchers. She will get re-elected as many times as she wants because her anti-choice base is so solid in the 66061 zip code.
In Shawnee, we have Nick Jordan, the State Senator is about as progressive as a peanut butter sandwich at a sit-down dinner.
Do we have any clue as to how far below the carrot on the IQ scale that Phill Kline is scoring?? The guy let his license to practice law lapse three times. He's a total Nazi.
Sum it up with Senators Brownback and Roberts and we have NO ONE to represent us with the exception of Representative Dennis Moore, a Democrat from the 3rd District.
