Johnson County senator diagnosed with cancer |
|
As the whole story is just 4 paragraphs, I've pasted it all here:
Topeka -- A state senator from Johnson County has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing treatment in Boston.
Barbara Allen, R-Overland Park, disclosed her illness Thursday. She said in a statement that her cancer was in an early stage and was treatable.
However, Allen missed Senate sessions this week and will be treated at Harvard University's Cancer Center. She said she would return to her legislative duties soon.
Allen, a 44-year-old attorney, is chairwoman of the Senate Assessment and Taxation Committee. She was elected to the Senate in 2000 and re-elected last year.

2. The Dem who ran against her, |

Nate Hogan, would have made a fine senator. Have no idea if he'd be interested in running again. But Ms Allen, with all due respect, has done nothing worth mentioning in her years in office.
I don't wish cancer on anyone, but I do wish her out of office. She's my senator and I'd love to see her replaced.
