If you have not yet heard an ad, seen a yard sign or received a phone call about the proposed amendment to ban same-sex marriages and civil unions, that's about to change. With less than a week left until Election Day, those for and against the amendment are making phone calls, running commercials and knocking on doors to get out the vote.
Equality Kansas, a gay-rights advocacy group based in Wichita, will be calling voters and walking precincts in Sedgwick County this weekend.
"What's important towards the end is making sure we contact as many people as we can and get them out to the polls," said Patrick Hutchison, chairman of the group.
Conservative pastors Terry Fox and Joe Wright plan to record a radio ad today to run on as many local stations as possible Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Wright said.http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/news/11263626.htmKansans for Fairness is also working on this and is still seeking volunteers and money.
