Hearing postponed in tuition lawsuit
A hearing in a lawsuit challenging in-state tuition for undocumented aliens who attend Kansas colleges was postponed Thursday until May 10.
It had originally been set for Monday in federal court in Topeka. The judge granted the time extension for attorneys to gather depositions.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform is financing the lawsuit on behalf of 24 out-of-state students and parents. The group contends the Kansas law violates federal law and is unfair to out-of-state students who are American citizens.
