Kline sues Sebelius to end state-funded abortion |
|
Topeka — Atty. Gen. Phill Kline opened a new front Thursday in the fight over abortion, filing a lawsuit against Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to prohibit state-funded abortions.
The expenditure of state funds to end pregnancies violates the Kansas Constitution’s protection of “inalienable natural rights, among which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” the lawsuit stated.
The suit also seeks to have the court determine that life starts at fertilization when “a new, unique and genetically distinct human being is formed, distinct from its host while dependent upon her.”
The state is allowed to pay for abortions in instances of rape, incest or the life of the woman is endangered. The money comes from Medicaid, a federal- and state-funded program that provides health care to low-income Kansans.Never mind that this would jeopardize ALL of the funds Kansas currently gets from Medicaid... http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/aug/19/kline_sues_sebelius_end_statefunded_abortion/?kansas_legislature

1. Another frivilous Right Wing lawsuit |
|
It's ok for them to use the courts, but not us. I'm sure Kline would love to get this into an activist judge's court.

3. there is good litigation/there is bad litigation |
|
Vioxx: lying, hiding evidence of 138,000 deaths = bad med mal: killing thousands a year = bad products liability- injuring hundreds of thousands = bad
suing to stop people from making tough personal choices = good.

in my comfortable house in mourning. All I can think about is Camp Casey. My fan is on, it is not hot enough in my lovely home to turn on the air conditioning but all I want to do is go back to that sweaty, dusty place in the middle of a crossroads and work my ass off. All of this is important but somehow right now it all seems, like you said, insane. It is insane but my head and heart are in Crawford right now.
