Sen. Barack Obama will be the featured speaker at the annual convention in Topeka of the Democratic Party. He will be speaking Friday evening at the banquet, at the Ramada Inn Dwtn.

I know the tickets sold out the first day, but I called and asked them to put me on a back-up list, in case any tickets became available. Lo and behold, I got a call from them yesterday and I now have tickets!

It sounds like they're arranging the banquet hall to accommodate more people, so if you want to go and don't have a ticket, it might be worth giving them a call. ;) Tickets are $125 and that price includes the banquet Friday with Obama, luncheon on Saturday, plus all of the caucuses and other events on both days. Not a bad deal, really.

9. Big Unit is Going

For those who are interested, the luncheon speaker on Saturday is attorney general candidate Paul Morrison, who announced Tuesday that his statewide campaign honorary co-chairs are Jill Docking and Mark Parkinson, the former chairman of the State Republican Party. Great though this news is, Kline will not go out without a fight. He is doing a fundraiser in Wichita on Feb. 28 where the honorary guest is John Asscroft.
